Q&A with Raven the Halloween cat and her hooman, Kim

My fiendish floofs,

I am delighted to present to you my first of 3 Halloween themed Q&A's, as part of my "Trilogy of Terror". Kicking things off we have a Q&A with Kim, the hooman behind Raven the Halloween Cat!

I have been a fan of Raven ever since I discovered her Instagram and I am truly grateful for the chance to do this Q&A. Raven has a coat and eyes like no other and if you aren't following her yet, you will be after reading this Q&A.

As always, a lot of love and hard work went into this blog post so a share is greatly appreciated!

Kim, thank you so much for taking part in this Q&A. Please tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Kim, I live in a small town called Bavikhove in Belgium. I'm 38 years old and I have a son called Lewis, he's 13 now.

How long have you had Raven and how did she come into your life?

We adopted Raven in July 2018, a year after our cat Bruce passed away. He lived with us for 13 years so we took our time to mourn but decided we didn't want to live without a cat in our lives and started to look for the perfect match. When we saw the first picture of Raven, we fell in love immediately.  Although we were looking for a male kitten, we couldn't resist her so we wrote an email to Anja from Cattery Ubasti to ask if she was still available. And she was! We took her home on the 26th of September.

What age is Raven?

She was born on the 23rd of June 2018 so she turned 3 this year.

Do you have any other pets?

No we don't, for now,  we're considering adopting a little brother for Raven next year :)

How long have you been on Instagram?

We started Raven's account on the 5th of August 2018 (had to scroll back for that one 🤭)

What are Raven's favourite foods and treats?

Easy one! Raven is really picky and only want Applaws Tuna (wet food) every evening and Edgard & Cooper dry food during the day. Tuna treats are her favourite.

What are Raven's favourite toys?

Feathers, kickers and those little springs

It is no surprise that Raven is an ambassador for several pages. Please tell us about the companies Raven is an ambassador for?

Edgard&Cooper, they sell healthy food for cars and dogs and their headquarters are based in Kortrijk, not far from our home.  LunaLillyCollars and Catlets collars
MyKotty furniture for cats.

Do you get asked to be an ambassador often?

Almost weekly when we were active on a daily basis.  But it's pretty hard to maintain that routine lately (since I started a new job that takes a lot of time...)

Is it easy to get Raven to pose for photos and videos or does it require a bit of work? I know I personally like to make my hoomans work hard for the perfect shot!

Raven hates being photographed so the same story over here ;) Treats and toys help but the older she gets, the harder it gets too...

With us cats, belly rubs can be a controversial topic! Does Raven like belly rubs or is this off limits?

It depends, but if she asks for it, she usually lets me do it. But everyone else gets bitten 😅

Please tell us your favourite qualities about Raven?

She's a real diva most of the time but she's really sweet too! She likes to be caressed at the moments she chooses (usually when we're busy) but when we're watching TV for example, she doesn't stop cupping (is that the word for pushing her head against our arm?) until we pet her.

Describe Raven in three words:

Soft chubby panther

Raven is known as the Halloween cat but to anyone foolish enough to say  that"black cats are bad luck", what would you say to them? We know that this is a silly superstition but there are still people who think this!

It's pretty shocking to know that there are so many people who still think black cats are bad luck! So by showing pictures and videos of our cute little ball of fluff, we hope that those people see that she brings so much joy in our lives. She can be so funny sometimes and she's pretty clever too. So bad luck? Just the opposite!

I personally believe a dog started that runour but I don't have any proof! Which leads me to my next question...

...A wise man once said "Cats rule and dogs drool". What are your thoughts on this?

Hahaha 😅 I like dogs too (every animal basically) but personally I don't have room nor time for a dog. And Raven acts like a dog too (she plays fetch, listens when we call her and lets us know what she wants so who needs a dog when you have her 🤭)

Does Raven feature on any other social media platforms?

Her posts on Instagram appear automatically on her Facebook page too (Black British Shorthair) and I once tried TikTok too but I guess I'm too old for that 😅

You have a very large and very loyal following. When you first started Raven's Instagran, did you expect such a response?

It's amazing how many followers Raven has! The cat community is so loyal and people put a lot of time in it, it makes it hard for me to let them down by not posting daily but I kinda underestimated it... We never could imagine having so many followers. But I think the combination of her black fur and orange eyes really do the trick.

Is there anything you would like to say to all your fans and followers?

Yes! We appreciate every comment, like and followers. It warms our hearts every time we read the kind words and although I can not spend as much time as I want on Instagram, we want everyone to know that we feel blessed to be a part of the cat

Many thanks Kim and Raven for taking part. Raven is a beautiful cat and it makes out day to see her posts when they pop up on our news feed. You are a very lucky cat owner and she is blessed with a very good hooman! Those eyes and that glossy coat are just the best

Thank you for asking! We truly feel blessed to have her in our lives!

That's it for now felines! If you'll excuse me, I'm off for a snooze! Be sure to follow Raven on Instagram (@raven_halloween_cat)
