Q&A with Polina Koshkadelik

My dear furrriends,

I am delighted to share with you my Q&A with the wonderful Polina Koskadelik, owner and founder of the popular Instagram page fiftyshadesginger. Not only is it the ultimate page for all ginger floofs, it is also one of the first pages to have featured me on my Instagram journey so it is a very special page to me. Be sure to check the page out if you haven't already as it is the most active and engaging page dedicated to ginger felines!

Polina, it is a delight to have you join us for a Q&A and we are excited to learn more about you and what goes on behind the scenes at fiftyshadesginger.

Would you mind telling us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Polina. Im from Russia but now I study and live in Germany.

Have you always had cats in your life?

I have always lived with cats, since I was 1 month old. Most of them were my mother’s cats. But at the very beginning of my independent life I understood that I couldn’t live without cats. And then Loke appeared in my life. Now he is 13 years old.

Do you have any other pets beside cats?

I had many different pets when I was a kid: hamsters, mouses, rats, guinea pigs, fish... But cats never were pets in our family, they were members.

How long has fiftyshadesginger been active?

Fifty Shades Ginger was established in 2016. Ive just understood that it’s already 5 years!

What made you decide to start a page dedicated exclusively to us orange floofs?

I launched a page for my ginger cat Loke. But very soon I realized that there were so many sweet gingers I wanted to repost. And I changed the concept. Now Loke and his girlfriend Laki also have their own page @mrandmrsrex

Your page has quite a big following. It must take up a lot of your time. Is it just yourself that runs the page or have you got anyone helping you?

Only me. It takes up a lot of time, yes. But indeed it’s very pleasant hobby: browsing hundreds of pictures with cats, liking it and having many kind comments back. It’s like a therapy for me.

You also have promote the hashtag #lokesfriends. Who is Loke and please tell us about him.

Loke is a sweet ginger Cornish rex. He is very modest boy although he can be very loud when he is hungry. He just loves food a bit too much and always want more.

When you decide to share a picture or a profile, is this by request or are they accounts that you have found yourself and which catch your eye?!

Both ways. But requests in priority.

Also I take into account those who tag their pictures with #lokefriends๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿˆ

How do people react when they get shared by your page?

Almost all of those whom I gave a shout-out thanked me very warm. It’s always a pleasure. But several cases of negative reaction also happened. It’s very rare and I deleted posts if someone claims.

(Hey look! That's me! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿฑ)

Some people say us ginger boys have tempers and attitudes. Would you agree?

By all means! But ginger girls are also outstanding ;)

A wise man once said, "Cats rule and dogs drool'. Would you agree?

Agree but I dream about basenji dog - they have a very independent attitude

Speaking of dogs, will there ever be a fiftyshadesginger dedicated to dogs or are we barking up the wrong tree on that one?

I don’t have such a plan. But among FSG members there is a ginger poodle (+1 of his cat friends @3.ps.in.a.pod )

Thanks again for invitation!

Kind regards

Polina & Loke
